PROJECT 201 REVEAL ANNOUNCEMENT

About Project 201

PHX REIMAGINED

Since it first rose from the desert floor in 1992, few structures have meant more to a city than the arena at 201 E. Jefferson Street in Phoenix.

Today’s Talking Stick Resort Arena has been the hub for world class sports and entertainment for 27 years. The once state-of-the-art venue helped drive the growth of downtown Phoenix to become the thriving metropolitan destination that it is today, but it’s time for a reimagination.

A $230 million transformation is underway at Talking Stick Resort Arena, the first Phoenix venue to go through a significant redesign in more than 10 years, that will reinforce its place as Arizona’s premier sports and entertainment destination.

Updates to the building’s infrastructure (mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural) are a significant aspect of the redesign, but the majority of the work will exponentially improve the overall fan experience – from the local food offerings, to expanded concourses that will increase flow and communal areas for shared experiences, significant improvements in lighting, audio and video resolution, and technology that makes the fan journey smooth and seamless.

The first phase of the transformation will be complete to open the 2020 NBA season; and the second phase will be complete to open the 2021 NBA season.

TECHNOLOGY

Talking Stick Resort Arena will become the most extensive 5G arena in the U.S. thanks to Verizon. The blazing speed that 5G provides will enhance the current mobile ticket and mobile wallet offerings, as well as a new tap-to-pay program through one of the Phoenix Suns’ most-trusted partners, PayPal.

CASINO ARIZONA PAVILION

Beginning in Fall 2020, fans and show-goers will be greeted with an incredible new view the moment they walk into the Casino Arizona Pavilion. The pavilion will be opened up so that visitors can see through straight into the bowl. It will feature a massive centerpiece bar that, as owner Robert Sarver referenced, will make the pavilion the “best sports bar in Phoenix.”

The FOX Sports Arizona broadcast desk will move into the pavilion to capture the energy of the pre-game and post-game crowds.

VIDEO BOARDS

More than 8,500 square feet of living room quality video screens will show the games, partner branding, upcoming event messaging and more above the pavilion floor.

Overall, more than 750 video screens are being added throughout the arena.

The most impressive screen will hang above the arena bowl. The 3,550 square foot center-hung scoreboard will be six-times bigger than the current 576 square feet of video boards. That’s equivalent to about 10 luxury SUVs in size. The resolution of the main scoreboard screen will improve by 600 percent so that every play and replay will be crystal clear.

Additionally, two new LED ribbon boards stretching more than 1,700 feet in total and will ring the lower & upper bowls and replace the singular one that currently exists.

FOOD & DRINK

The upper concourse will be expanded to include a family-friendly food court. Throughout the arena a variety of local restauranteurs will be tapped to offer fans a taste of the great food that Phoenicians have come to expect.

Two new corner bars inside the seating bowl at the main concourse floor will offer fans a unique social experience while taking in a game or event.

The North end of the arena will feature a new country western club, true to Arizona’s Southwest culture. It will be set up to host musicians and small acts from night to night. This space will have a true rustic feel with wooden barrels extended from the walls, and quite possibly saddles for bar seats.

SEATING

More than 17,000 cushioned seats will replace the current seating throughout the arena. That’s more than five miles or 287 basketball courts when sitting side-by-side.

CLUBS & SUITES

The new Talking Stick Resort Arena will feature 11 different types of club and suite experiences, including 55 total suites, eight additional theatre boxes, new VIP clubs and one exclusive club dubbed 1968.

Lower bowl seat holders in sideline rows 1-6 will have exclusive access to court-level clubs on the East and West sides of the arena. Each upscale club will have two private entrances adjacent to the playing surface. Members will have a full buffet, beer and wine provided for them on game night.

The new suite configuration, ready in time for the start of the 2021/2022 NBA season, was inspired by the open suite experiences at the popular Waste Management Open golf tournament. Suite members will have the flexibility of entertaining privately with sliding suite doors or celebrating the moment with other fans and show-goers in open common areas and bars outside of each suite.

The Terrace Suites are very unique. Members will have their own living room setting to watch games in style with friends but in an open environment. A second floor, outdoor patio will be added to the arena and accessible from these suites.

The two most exclusive new settings will be the Bunker Suites and 1968. The three Bunker Suites will be situated right off the main court. Players will pass right by these suite members as they run out onto the floor. The 1968 club is named for the year the Suns organization came to life. This is a beautiful two-story club on the lower level of the arena. 1968 members will have exclusive access from rows A and B, with a private entrance into the arena from Jackson Street, and private valet parking.
