PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns are taking it old school! The team will host ’90s Night on Thursday, January 21 when the team hosts the San Antonio Spurs at Talking Stick Resort Arena, the first in a series of “Throwback Night” games that will celebrate the rich history of the Suns organization.
In the spirit of the ‘90s, fans are invited to page the Suns for a chance to win an authentic Charles Barkley throwback jersey, a prize pack filled with ‘90s Suns memorabilia, or tickets to the game on Thursday. To enter, fans can simply call 602-239-8344 and then input their phone number, press # and wait for the series of fast beeps to confirm and send their page.
At the game, fans will enjoy a number of in-game elements representative of the ‘90s, including a national anthem performed by Kevin Eubanks, former leader of the Tonight Show Band, as well as a Britney Spears impersonator performing at halftime.
In addition, the first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a Ring of Honor pint glass featuring Charles Barkley and Dan Majerle. Fans will also enjoy throwback concession prices including $2 hot dogs, sodas and popcorn at various locations throughout the arena, and will be able to play ‘90s video games in the Suns Social Media Lounge. Beginning Monday, the Suns’ website will undergo a retro makeover with the homepage designed to look like the original site when it was launched 20 years ago during the 1995-96 NBA season. The site will feature historic content from the decade including articles, photo galleries and video of some of the most memorable players, games and moments of the ‘90s.
The Suns will host additional “Throwback Night” matchups on February 4 vs. Houston (‘80s Night) and February 25 vs. Brooklyn (‘60s & ‘70s Night), and then culminate the effort by recognizing the 40th Anniversary of the Suns’ 1976 NBA Finals team on Saturday, March 26 vs. Boston.
