Fantasy News

Coby White

Doesn’t practice Friday White has been active throughout the preseason thus far, and the Bulls are likely going to remain cautious with the guard until the regular season. If the 24-year-old is ruled out, the Bulls are expected to take an extended look at Chris Duarte, Dalen Terry and Onuralp Bitim.

Talen Horton-Tucker

Absent from practice Horton-Tucker's status for Saturday's preseason matchup with the Grizzlies is now in question. However, there is no indication that the 23-year-old guard will miss any regular-season action.

Norman Powell

Out for Friday Powell will sit Friday with a minor injury, and he is not expected for a long-term absence. The 31-year-old's next chance to suit up will come Monday against the Mavericks.

Toumani Camara

Gets starting nod Camara will start in place of Anfernee Simons (ankle) on Friday. Camara made 49 regular-season starts last season but is expected to be one of Portland's primary bench options in 2024-25.

Kris Murray

Gets starting nod Friday Murray will enter the starting five with Anfernee Simons out due to minor ankle soreness. Murray made 29 regular-season starts last year, during which he averaged 9.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 combined steals plus blocks across 31.8 minutes per game.

Matisse Thybulle

Won’t play Friday While the severity of Thybulle's knee injury is unclear, it will force him to at least sit out Friday's preseason contest. His next chance to suit up will be Sunday's preseason matchup with Sacramento.

Anfernee Simons

Ruled out Friday Coach Chauncey Billups said Friday that Simons is fine, and he is likely only being held out as a precautionary measure before the start of the season. The sharpshooter's next chance to feature will come Sunday versus the Kings, though it is likely the Trail Blazers won't push the 25-year-old too hard before the regular season.

Luka Doncic

Remains out Monday Doncic will miss his third straight preseason game Monday due to a left calf injury. However, the superstar guard participated in 1-on-1 drills during Friday's practice and doesn't appear set to miss any regular-season action.

Killian Hayes

Iffy for Monday Hayes was a late addition to the injury report prior to missing Tuesday's preseason opener against the Clippers. The 23-year-old may return Monday, but it seems the club is taking it slow with the guard before Opening Night.

Nic Claxton

Expected back by Opening Night Claxton has been dealing with hamstring soreness that has kept him from appearing in the preseason thus far. The 25-year-old has been slightly limited throughout training camp, but the club expects he will be fully ready for Opening Night. Claxton's return to game action during the preseason is unlikely, but his next opportunity to play will come Monday versus the Wizards.

Grayson Allen

Back with team While Allen has already been ruled out for Friday's preseason matchup with the Pistons, his absence for personal reasons shouldn't extend much longer. Allen's next chance to play is Sunday's preseason contest against the Nuggets.

Lonzo Ball

Expects to return in preseason Ball is expected to make his long awaited return to game action before Opening Night. The 26-year-old has dealt with a litany of knee injuries that have held him out since January of 2022, though he is finally expected back for the 2024-25 campaign. Ball's next chance to suit up will come Saturday versus the Grizzlies.

Jaime Jaquez

Returns to practice Jaquez was held out of Tuesday's preseason opener due to a left groin strain but isn't expected to miss extended time. The second-year forward's next chance to suit up is Sunday's preseason matchup with New Orleans.

Tyler Herro

Practices Friday Herro is dealing with a groin strain that held him out of Tuesday's preseason game against the Hornets. While the sharpshooter is not 100 percent, he is expected to be fully available for Opening Night against the Magic. Herro's next chance to feature during the preseason will come Sunday versus the Pelicans.

Jaylen Wells

Posts 12 pointa in preseason loss Wells made a splash in the Summer League after being picked in the second round by the Grizzlies. Wells signed a four-year deal worth $7.9 million so they expect him to be a contributor right away. His spot on the depth chart should rise if he continues to log solid numbers in the preseason.

Jay Huff

Generates 15 points from bench Huff is trying to stay out of the G League and despite a crowded depth chart above him, Thursday's diverse line goes a long way toward his goal. He's now with his fourth team in his fourth season, and the Virginia product demonstrates special skills as a shooter and defender when given the opportunity, but only time will tell if he can impress enough to log some games with the big club.

Desmond Bane

Solid night in loss Bane is expected to form part of a potent backcourt that will feature Ja Morant and Marcus Smart. Although injury limited Bane to 42 games last season, he logged career-high averages in points (23.7) and assists (5.5). He's also a solid perimeter shooter who will drive up his score with several three-point attempts. He averaged a whopping 8.6 attempts from downtown last season.

Tidjane Salaun

Posts 13 points from bench Salaun will probably see a lot of time in the preseason. The first-round pick has an excellent chance to remain on the roster and avoid a G League post thanks to previous pro experience in France. The power forward enters a crowded depth chart and will play behind Miles Bridges this season.

Elfrid Payton

Rejoins New Orleans Despite being left off the team's training camp roster, Payton has signed another contract with the Pelicans. It's unclear if he will make the regular-season roster in New Orleans.

Tre Mann

Stays hot in preseason win While Mann's streak of production is encouraging, LaMelo Ball's return will severely limit the Florida product's usage in the regular season. Mann's situation could be worse, as Ball has had difficulty staying healthy and needs solid bench support. Unless something happens to Ball or Brandon Miller, Mann will toil with the second unit.

Javonte Cooke

Inks pact with OKC Despite recently being waived by the club, Cooke was signed back on a non-guaranteed pact. The 25-year-old is expected to suit up for the Thunder's G League affiliate -- the Oklahoma City Blue -- after averaging 16.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per game with the Iowa Wolves last season.

Josh Oduro

Inks deal with New Orleans Oduro spent his final collegiate year at Providence before going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. Oduro will likely spend the 2024-25 campaign with the Pelicans' G League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron.

Miller Kopp

Cut by OKC As expected, Kopp has been let go a few days after signing an Exhibit 10 contract. He'll likely report to the G League's Oklahoma City Blue to start the campaign.

Brandon Miller

Drills six threes in blowout Miller's shot betrayed him in his second preseason game, but he more than made up for it with a masterful team-leading performance Thursday night. Were it not for Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren, Miller would have been a shoo-in for Rookie of the Year recognition. The Alabama product took advantage of the opportunity given by LaMelo Ball's absence to take over backcourt duties. We won't see much of Ball in the preseason, so we'll have to wait a bit to see how Ball's return might adjust Miller's role He'll most likely work as the off-guard while Ball re-assumes the job as floor general.

AJ Johnson

Provides 13 points off the bench Johnson elected to play in Australia rather than commit to Texas, and despite shaky results down under, the Bucks were impressed enough with his combine work to give him a shot. Johnson is likely headed to Milwaukee's G League team as a project for the future. He has a lot of raw talent but his thin and wary frame needs some development. Still, there's merit to Milwaukee's pick when you consider the aging group of guards ahead of him. Antetokounmpo may find himself without a supporting cast in a few years if he chooses to stay in Milwaukee, and a promising guard who is a couple of years from full-time play fits in well with the team's long-term future.

Bobby Portis

Performs well in reserve role Portis drilled a flurry of threes during his time on the floor and nailed all five of his attempts. He matched that feat just once last season, so although Portis can be counted on to take some shots from long range, Thursday's result was an outlier event. Portis led the team in scoring and is expected to play a sixth-man role once again this season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Scores 20 points in preseason debut Despite the loss, Antetokounmpo put on a show for the home crowd during his first appearance in the preseason. Although a calf strain kept Antetokounmpo out of the playoffs, he showed no ill effects from the injury over the summer as the leader of Greece's Olympic Team. Bobby Portis also excelled in Thursday's loss, providing evidence that Milwaukee's frontcourt is ready to take care of business.

Anthony Davis

Struggles iwith shot in 25 minutes Although Davis' shot was a bit off in the win, he provided solid results on defense with eight grabs off the glass and three blocked shots. Davis was expected to see limited minutes in the preseason, but he's obviously feeling healthy enough to put in some work in early October.

Dalton Knecht

Logs 34 minutes in victory Knecht had difficulty finding the bottom of the basket on most of his perimeter shots, but the 2024 first-round pick logged the most minutes on the floor Thursday and seems to be getting every opportunity to prove his worth. The Tennessee product's chances for breaking into the first unit are slim, but he seems to have an inside track to a good deal of reserve work.

Rui Hachimura

Leads team with 14 points Hachimura started once again in the frontcourt with Anthony Davis, a trend that could continue into the regular season. Although Jarred Vanderbilt and Christian Wood are still on the roster, Hachimura seems to have the definitive edge over this teammates and the confidence of new coach JJ Redick.

Keyonte George

Jazz optimistic about injury George suffered a mild left knee sprain during the third quarter of Tuesday's win over the Mavericks, and while the Jazz are confident he won't have to miss time once their regular season begins, an MRI will provide a more precise diagnosis. George is a pivotal piece on the offensive scheme of the Jazz both on a short-term and long-term picture, and he averaged 13.0 points with 4.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game as a rookie in 2023-24 across 75 regular-season contests.

Delon Wright

Dealing with shoulder problem Rivers stated that Wright isn't expected to miss much time, but it seems he doesn't have a timetable for his return. The injury occurred during Wednesday's practice when Wright was hit with a hard screen, and it's unclear if he'll recover in time to suit up for the Bucks' next preseason game against the Bulls on Monday.

Bennedict Mathurin

Explodes for 25 points Mathurin was one of the standout performers of Thursday's slate across The Association, and it seems the former Arizona forward is approaching the 2024-25 campaign with a chip on his shoulder following the injury woes that limited him to just 59 regular-season appearances in the previous 2023-24 campaign. Mathurin averaged 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 26.1 minutes in those 59 contests, and he could be a solid weapon off the bench for the Pacers, whereas his usage might end up making him a reliable fantasy asset as well.

Jarace Walker

Perfect from field Thursday Walker was one of several solid contributors off the bench for the Pacers in this game, as no starter played more than 18 minutes. Walker is competing for a bench role as a frontcourt option, and this outing might have assured him some extra looks in the upcoming preseason games. Walker made 33 regular-season appearances off the bench as a rookie in 2023-24, averaging 3.6 points and 1.9 rebounds across 10.3 minutes per game.

Myles Turner

Productive in preseason debut Turner made his preseason debut after missing the game against the Hawks on Tuesday due to a knee problem, and the big man made his presence felt on both ends of the court. Indiana will try to be cautious in case the knee bothers Turner again, but if that's not the case, he's penciled in as the starting center for Opening Night against the Pistons on Oct. 23.

Jaylon Tyson

Stuffs stat sheet Thursday The rookie out of Cal was selected with the 20th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, and he could have a role off the bench -- albeit minimal -- if he cracks the Opening Night roster. He'll be a solid depth piece in the rotation, but he's not expected to have much of a role, thus being an afterthought in most fantasy formats.

Ty Jerome

Comes close to double-double The Cavaliers have two players capable of running the offense in the starting unit in Donovan Mitchell (rest) and Darius Garland (rest), but having Jerome as an insurance policy off the bench wouldn't be the worst thing. Jerome barely played in 2023-24 due to an ankle injury but could compete for a spot on the Opening Night roster if he keeps this up in the remaining preseason contests.

Jarrett Allen

Strong showing in limited time Allen was the only regular starter who saw the court in this preseason contest, as the coaching staff decided to rest Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland and Evan Mobley while Max Strus (hip) was ruled out. Allen is firmly entrenched as the Cavs' starting center and will remain a double-double threat whenever he steps on the floor once Cleveland's regular season begins against the Raptors on Oct. 23.

Klay Thompson

Makes preseason debut Thursday Head coach Jason Kidd announced before the 8 p.m. ET tip-off that Thompson would play under a minutes' restriction, and that's precisely what happened, as the sharpshooter logged less than 20 minutes and didn't step on the court in the second half. Thompson will be the Mavericks' third option on offense once the regular season begins with a matchup against the Spurs on Oct. 24, and that new role in Dallas should limit his fantasy upside considerably.

Kyrie Irving

Scores 12 points in preseason debut Just like head coach Jason Kidd announced before the 8 p.m. ET tip-off, Irving played less than 20 minutes and didn't step on the court in the second half. The veteran floor general should ramp up his minutes in the final two preseason outings, against the Clippers and Bucks, to be ready for the Oct. 24 regular-season opener against the Spurs.

Olivier-Maxence Prosper

Takes advantage of spot start Prosper got the start in the frontcourt alongside Dereck Lively, and there's no question the second-year forward took advantage of the opportunity. As good as he looked alongside Lively, Prosper's path at regular minutes in the regular season is blocked, meaning he shouldn't have any value in most fantasy formats regardless of how good he looks during his brief preseason cameos.

Walker Kessler

Grabs 15 rebounds Thursday Lauri Markkanen, Keyonte George (knee) and even John Collins delivered solid performances on the offensive end of the court, but Kessler made his presence felt defensively and on the glass, two areas in which he already stands out. It's unclear if Kessler will open the 2024-25 regular season as the starting center for the Jazz, but if that's the case, he'll add some much-needed size and rim protection to a towering Utah lineup that should also feature Markkanen and Taylor Hendricks in the first unit.

Lauri Markkanen

Bounces back in win over Dallas Markkanen needed a strong performance as a confidence booster following a woeful shooting effort against the Rockets on Monday, and that's exactly what happened here. The star forward led all players in scoring and showed he's more than ready for the start of the regular season, which will be Oct. 23 for Utah in a matchup against Memphis. Markkanen averaged 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.2 three-pointers and 2.0 assists in 33.1 minutes per game over 55 regular-season appearances in 2023-24.

Jordan Clarkson

Productive off bench Thursday Clarkson was one of six Utah players who scored in double digits in this contest while making his presence felt on both ends of the court. He could be in line for a more prominent role in the team's final three preseason contests, and possibly in the regular-season opener against the Grizzlies on Oct. 23, in case Keyonte George (knee) receives extra rest or struggles to recover from the injury he sustained in this win over the Mavs.

Ja Morant

Doesn’t play Thursday Morant didn't see the court in this double-digit preseason loss, though that's far from surprising, as the Grizzlies are being extremely cautious with their star point guard following the injuries and off-court issues he's had over the last two years. Morant's next chance to play will come against the Bulls on Saturday, but the star floor general will shift his focus toward being ready for the regular-season opener against the Jazz on Oct. 23, meaning his involvement in the Grizzlies' upcoming preseason games is uncertain.

Ousmane Dieng

Sniffs triple-double in win Dieng has made over 30 appearances for the Thunder in each of his first two seasons in the NBA, and he continues to grow as a player after being one of the youngest players selected in the 2022 NBA Draft. Dieng isn't expected to play a prominent role for the Thunder once the regular season begins in late October, but he might get an extra look in the Thunder's final two preseason contests against the Nuggets and Hawks before the start of the regular season on Oct. 24.

Terence Davis

Not yet ready for play Davis continues to rehab from a ruptured Achilles injury suffered in June, and it's clear the Bucks aren't in a rush to get him back for a preseason game. His next chance to suit up will arrive Monday against the Bulls.

Cody Martin

Remains out Thursday Martin continues to fight through a sprained wrist, and the injury forced him to miss another exhibition. Look for Tidjane Salaun, Tre Mann and Seth Curry to continue to get more run in the preseason until Martin is cleared for play.

Dillon Jones

Shines in win Thursday Several young players got the chance to play extended minutes in this contest for the Thunder, but it'd be hard to find anyone who took more advantage of the opportunity than Jones, who filled the stat sheet admirably and made his presence felt on both ends of the court with a strong double-double. Jones, the 26th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, isn't expected to play a big role for the Thunder as a rookie, but this game certainly gives a glimpse of his potential as a two-way threat in The Association.

Adam Flagler

Scores 25 points in preseason game The Thunder rested all of their regular and gave extra minutes to players with a minimal shot of making the Opening Night roster, but Flagler certainly made the most of the opportunity. He led the Thunder in scoring and could've earned some extra minutes ahead of Oklahoma City's final two preseason games, against Denver and Atlanta, on Oct. 15 and 17, respectively.

Keyonte George

Won’t return Thursday George put together a strong stat line before slipping on the court in the third quarter and exiting the game. He'll be shut down for the rest of the matchup and the team will likely hold him out of Saturday's exhibition in San Antonio as well to ensure he heads into the regular season at full strength.

Enrique Freeman

Helped to locker room Freeman wasn't able to bend his knee much on his way off the floor, per East. He's likely headed to the locker room for further evaluation to determine the severity of the injury.

John Konchar

Gets chance with starters Konchar will step into the starting five due as the Grizzlies are already dealing with a handful of injuries to key players. He should be prepared to log plenty of minutes with Jaren Jackson (hamstring), Vince Williams (lower leg) and Brandon Clarke (knee) all ruled out.

Ja Morant

Not starting vs. Charlotte It's unclear if Morant will be sidelined for this preseason contest, but that wouldn't be shocking, as the team's goal is to have him ready for the start of the regular season against the Jazz on Oct. 23. John Konchar will start next to Marcus Smart in the backcourt with Morant not in the first unit.

Daniel Gafford

Not starting vs. Utah The Mavericks are tweaking the majority of their starting lineup for this contest, and Gafford will be part of the second unit. Dereck Lively will start under center.

Naji Marshall

Coming off bench Marshall struggled from the field in Monday's exhibition against Memphis, going 4-for-11 from the field in 21 minutes as a starter. He'll take on a reserve role Thursday with Klay Thompson back in action.

Olivier-Maxence Prosper

Gets starting nod The Mavericks are tweaking their starting lineup for this contest, and that means mixing things up down low. Prosper will start alongside Dereck Lively in the frontcourt.

Dereck Lively

Running with first unit Lively will get a look at center over Daniel Gafford in Thursday's exhibition. The Duke product looked solid in his last appearance off the bench Monday against Memphis, logging 12 points, three rebounds and two assists in 14 minutes.

Quentin Grimes

Coming off the bench Thursday The Mavericks are starting Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving for this preseason contest, so Grimes should see minutes off the bench. However, he should see minutes off the bench once most of the starters are no longer on the floor.

Jaden Hardy

Not starting vs. Utah The Mavericks are starting Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving for this preseason contest, so Hardy should see minutes off the bench. However, both starters will have a minutes restriction, so Hardy should still see minutes throughout the contest.

Seth Curry

Enters starting five Curry will get a chance to start at point guard after it was reported LaMelo Ball and Josh Green would be sat down for rest purposes. Look for Curry to get plenty of opportunities along with Tre Mann and Tidjane Salaun in Thursday's exhibition.

Brandon Clarke

Out with knee soreness Clarke is likely being held out as a precaution given that Thursday night is only an exhibition. HIs next chance to suit up will arrive Saturday in Chicago.

Vasilije Micic

Starting vs. Memphis Micic will get a starting nod in this contest since the Hornets are resting LaMelo Ball. The Serbian point guard will get some minutes as he's pushing to earn the backup point guard role behind Ball.

Josh Green

Resting Thursday The team mentioned leading up to Thursday's exhibition that a few of the regular starters would get the night off, and it's since been announced that Green and LaMelo Ball won't suit up. Cody Martin (wrist) and Tidjane Salaun could be in line for more chances in Green's absence.

LaMelo Ball

Won’t play Thursday The Hornets will give Ball some rest in this preseason contest, meaning Vasilije Micic will start at point guard. Ball is expected to see minutes in the upcoming preseason games before the start of the regular season against the Rockets on Oct. 23.

Grant Williams

Making preseason debut Williams has missed his team's first two exhibitions while on the mend from a right hamstring injury, but he's back at 100 percent and will now begin ramping up for the 2024-25 regular season. He's expected to see run behind Miles Bridges in the frontcourt Thursday evening.

Max Christie

Gets another chance to start Christie will start his second game of the preseason due to the absence of Austin Reaves (ankle) Thursday evening. Christie fared well in the opener with the first unit, recording 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks in 34 minutes.

Pat Connaughton

Retreats to bench Connaughton drew a spot start in Sunday's preseason opener, but he'll head back to the bench with Giannis Antetokounmpo (rest) and Gary Trent (elbow) returning to play. Connaughton should see plenty of looks Thursday night as he prepares to handle a bench role in the upcoming 2024-25 campaign.

Moses Brown

Handed walking papers Brown put pen to paper on an Exhibit 10 contract Wednesday, but his time with the team didn't last long. He'll be a strong candidate to be brought back to play for New York's G League team, the Westchester Knicks.

Warren Washington

Latches on with Heat Washington logged six Summer League appearances with the Heat and will now set his sights on competing for a roster spot following Thursday's transaction. The big man had plenty of success at the college level a season ago for Texas Tech, averaging 9.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks over 25 games.

Caleb Daniels

Waived by Miami Daniels signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Heat in late September after spending all of last season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the G League, but he'll be a free agent following the latest roster moves. Daniels seems likely to play in the G League again in 2024-25.
