So here we are..back out on the rodeo road trip.
I have been fortunate to tag along for each and every one. The Spurs impressive winning percentage on the trip shows focus and leadership. I am lucky to just sit back and describe the action. It has truly been a blast. For those of you who read the :20 second timeout on a regular basis (I know there are at least a few of you out there) you may recall that last season I listed my favorite road songs.
It was quite an eclectic mix from Roger Miller and Robert Earl Keen to Foghat and Jackson Browne. I also vowed to bring my guitar and write my own road song.
When I first wrote "8900 Miles" it was sort of a power pop/ folk tune, but when I got in the studio with producer/guitarist Stephen Doster, he suggested a South Texas feel, with lap steel guitar.
So with a tip of the cap to the late great San Antonio native Doug Sahm, here is
"8,900 Miles".
As Brent Barry says about all my songs, it is sure to be a million seller. I will have a million in my cellar!
Special thanks to EAR studios for the music production and to video producer Rod Henegar at 44 Productions for his work. He even made Paul Castro of Spurs Spanish Radio look good!
