ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?! TOM MCGINNIS TO CALL 1,000TH GAME!

Sixers radio play-by-play man’s landmark game comes in his 13th season

Philadelphia, PA - February 09, 2008 Tonight when the 76ers host the Los Angeles Clippers, radio play-by-play announcer Tom McGinnis will call his 1,000th regular season Sixers game! Dating back to the 1994-95 season, McGinnis has called all the action for Sixers radio broadcasts, while also serving as the team’s director of radio broadcasting. His 13-year career with the Sixers includes nine playoff appearances and a trip to the 2001 NBA Finals.

"On behalf of the entire Sixers organization, we would like to congratulate Tom on reaching this significant milestone in his broadcasting career tonight," said Sixers President and General Manager Ed Stefanski.

McGinnis' career with the Sixers goes beyond his work behind the microphone, as he co-hosts numerous stops on the Sixers Summer Hoops Tour in the offseason, and serves as a team spokesman at various events and community relations efforts.

Before joining the Sixers prior to the 1995-96 season, McGinnis recorded 13 years of broadcasting experience, including seven years at local television stations, four years of play-by-play in the CBA with the Cedar Rapids Silver Bullets (1989-90) and LaCrosse Catbirds (1990-93) and two years calling minor league hockey games with the Cleveland Lumberjacks and the South Carolina Stingrays.
