Sixers Tip-Off "76 Days of Summer" - 6/1/2011

    Philadelphia, Pa. – June 1, 2011 – Mark your calendars, because the Philadelphia 76ers tip-off “76 Days of Summer” with a full slate of activities for fans of all ages, including Sixers Dancer Auditions, the team’s annual Beach Bash, more than 40 Summer Hoops Tour stops and much more.

    Sixers Dancers in China – Thursday, June 9 through Monday, June 20

    Six of the 2010-11 Sixers Dancers will travel to China to perform in two NBA-sponsored appearances and tour the country. The Dancers will keep a blog detailing their experiences on

    Sixers Dancers Auditions – Tuesday, June 21 at 6:00 p.m.

    The Philadelphia 76ers will hold first-round, open auditions for the 2011-12 Sixers Dancers at the Wells Fargo Center. Those auditioning must be available for possible call-backs on Wednesday, June 22. The Sixers ask that no observers attend the first-round or call-back auditions.

    Dancers interested in auditioning must be at least 18 years of age by June 1, 2011 and have previous dance training. They must submit the application form, found at, and two photos (head shot and full-body shot) to the team to be considered in one of three ways: Online at; by mail to the Wells Fargo Center (3601 S. Broad St., Philadelphia), attention “Sixers Dancers Auditions”; or via mobile phone.

    Sixers Charities Puts Original, Autographed Painting of Sixers’ 1982-83 Championship Team Up for Auction – Sunday, July 3

    The Comcast-Spectacor Foundation will host a special art auction at Ocean Galleries (9618 Third Avenue, Stone Harbor, N.J., for fans and art enthusiasts to bid on an original Peter Max portrait of the 1982-83 Sixers championship team. The painting has been autographed by members of the 1982-83 Philadelphia 76ers as well as the artist. The painting will be on display at Ocean Galleries throughout July. The winning bidder will be announced at the Sixers Beach Bash on July 30 at Jack’s Place in Avalon. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation.     Sixers Dancers Final Auditions – Wednesday, July 13 at 7:00 p.m.

    The final round of Sixers Dancers auditions will be held at Chickie’s & Pete’s South Philadelphia (1526 Packer Ave.) at 7:00 p.m. The final audition is free and open to the public, and will feature Philadelphia personalities as judges.

    Sixers Beach Bash Presented by Kia Motors – Saturday, July 30, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.

    Fans of all ages can meet Sixers Head Coach Doug Collins and enjoy other fun activities at the Sixers Beach Bash, presented by Kia Motors, Proud Partner of the 76ers, at Jack’s Place in Avalon, N.J. The 2011-12 Sixers Dancers will make their debut team appearance by performing a brand new routine. Family-friendly activities outside of Jack’s Place are free for all fans. Beach Bash will also feature an ages 21 and over bar area inside Jack’s Place for fans with an admission fee of $10. Admission to the bar area, as well as proceeds from the “yard sale” featuring one-of-a-kind autographed items and more, and silent auction benefits Greater Philadelphia Region charities through the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation. The event will be held rain or shine.

    Sixers Skills Academy - Monday, August 1 through Friday, August 5

    Boys ages 14 to 18 can take their basketball skills to the next level by participating in this intensive program that emphasizes advanced skill development in a competitive environment. The camp takes place at Haverford College. Registration is still open.

    Sixers Basketball Camp Sponsored by the Atlantic City Department of Recreation – Monday, August 8 through Friday, August 12

    Approximately 100 boys and girls ages 9 to 12 will participate in a free, full-day basketball camp sponsored by the Atlantic City Department of Recreation. Participants will receive jerseys and basketballs, and the Sixers Summer Hoops Tour will stop at the camp on Thursday, August 11.

    Sixers Basketball & Dance Camps – Tips-off on Monday, June 13

    Boys and girls ages 5 to 18 can improve their skills during 29 half-day, full-day and overnight basketball camps, and 13 half-day, full-day and overnight dance camps with specialized programming taught by professional coaches.     Sixers Summer Hoops Tour – Tips-off on Friday, June 24

    The 2011 Summer Hoops Tour – now in its 16th season - includes 44 stops and is led by Sixers Ambassador of Basketball World B. Free, will continue to offer children instruction on the basic fundamentals of basketball, tips on how to improve their game and advice on the importance on education. In addition to improved basketball and life skills, children will have an opportunity to interact with Hip-Hop and the trick-dunking Hare Raisers.
