Philadelphia 76ers Unveil New Team Uniforms for 2009-10 Season

The Sixers new uniforms are a modern interpretation of the traditional uniforms that were worn during the Sixers Championship years

Philadelphia, Pa. – September 23, 2009 – The Philadelphia Sixers have re-designed their uniforms to feature the team’s new primary “76ers basketball” logo and red, white and blue color scheme. Trimmed in blue and red, the team will wear white uniforms with blue lettering with red numbers at home. On the road, the team will wear red uniforms trimmed in blue and white with white lettering and numbers.

"With the start of our season fast approaching, we are thrilled to introduce our new uniforms that reflect a sense of Sixers history and our exciting future," said President and General Manager Ed Stefanski. "The new uniforms were designed with our fans in mind, after receiving strong feedback that this was a change they wanted."

"The new 76ers uniform embodies all of the team’s rich history with a fresh new look that both players and fans can embrace," said Christopher Arena, NBA Vice President Apparel, Sporting Goods & Basketball Partnerships.

For the past 12 seasons, the Sixers uniform included the team’s old primary logo which incorporated black, silver and gold into a stylized “76ers” wordmark. The uniform was trimmed in red and gold and featured the word, “SIXERS” on the front. At home, the team wore a white jersey featuring black numbers trimmed in red. For the first time in franchise history, the Sixers wore black uniforms on the road. The uniforms were trimmed in red and gold with white numbers trimmed in red on the back. From 1963 through 1997, the Sixers uniforms revolved around a logo that featured a “76” in red and royal blue and a star configuration above the number seven, which was an identity that defined the team through two NBA Championships. This is the 11th uniform change in team history.
