Playing NBA minutes would mean history for Koumadje, who would become the first native of Chad to play in the league.
Koumadje said on media day his priorities are defense and being vocal, adding that one of his biggest goals is to become easy to play with.
“This team really takes pride on defense. Being out there, being vocal, knowing where to be - communication is really the key,” Koumadje said.
As for Koumadje's personal goals, it’s all about improving each and every time he's on the court.
“It’s a day to day challenge, coming in and putting in work,” Koumadje said. “I don’t see limitations really, it’s just a matter of time and experience… getting stronger and getting better every day.”
Koumadje said that in college, he watched guys like Al Horford and Joel Embiid on YouTube, and looks forward to soaking in everything he can from the pair of All-Star big men.
Even beyond size, Koumadje shares a special connection with Embiid. They've both spoken French since a young age, and continue to do so with each other to this day.
