PHILADELPHIA, PA – NOVEMBER 4, 2015 – The Philadelphia 76ers have announced the creation of the Junior Sixers League, presented by NovaCare, which will be the team’s biggest and most widespread youth basketball initiative ever. With the aim of promoting basketball participation and development for youth ages 3-16 in the Delaware Valley, the Junior Sixers League, presented by NovaCare, will provide a fun and safe environment for over 5,000 youth in the region to learn and play basketball. The Sixers have partnered with youth basketball leagues at Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA and YMCA of Greater Brandywine, creating League opportunities at 26 YMCA locations. Interested League participants should contact their local Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA and YMCA of Greater Brandywine branch to register.
Coinciding with Jr. NBA Week, the Sixers recently tipped-off the League with a player-led clinic for 100 local YMCA members taught by Sixers stars Nerlens Noel, Isaiah Canaan, JaKarr Sampson, and Richaun Holmes, along with Sixers Head Coach Brett Brown and the Sixers Coaching Staff.
