Philadelphia 76ers Announce Events and Promotions for Blue Week presented by Independence Blue Cross & Sixers Strong
SIXERS TO HOST WEEK OF EVENTS TO GET FANS AND PHILADELPHIA READY FOR OPENING NIGHT AGAINST THE DEFENDING CHAMPION MIAMI HEAT ON OCTOBER 30, PRESENTED BY INDEPENDENCE BLUE CROSS
FULL-TEAM PLAYER APPEARANCES ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24 AND MONDAY, OCTOBER 28
PHILADELPHIA, PA. – OCTOBER 22, 2013 – The Philadelphia 76ers today announced their full schedule for Blue Week, presented by Independence Blue Cross & SIXERS STRONG, a series of events and promotions to get fans ready for the team’s home opener on October 30 when they host the defending Champion Miami Heat at the Wells Fargo Center at 7:00 p.m. in a game presented by Independence Blue Cross.
Tickets are available now for opening night online at SIXERS.COM, by phone at 215-339-7676 and in person at the Wells Fargo Center box office.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23: Postgame autograph session following Sixers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game
Approximately 9:30 p.m., Wells Fargo Center (3601 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19148)
Immediately following the Sixers preseason home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves (Wells Fargo Center, tip-off at 7:00 p.m.), all fans in attendance can participate in a full-team autograph session. Upon entering the arena, fans will receive a voucher indicating which sections they should move to after the game to get autographs.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24: Entire Sixers team to host a fitness and nutrition-themed SIXERS STRONG event for 150 kids, who will receive tickets to the home opener
4:00-5:30 p.m., Martin Luther King Recreation Center (2101 Cecil B. Moore Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19121)
The entire Sixers team and volunteers from Independence Blue Cross will be in attendance at a clinic designed to help kids stay active and make healthy food choices, which highlight the team’s “Nutritional” and “Physical” SIXERS STRONG pillars. Children will participate in fitness activities, including basketball, dance and other exercises, and learn from chef Christina Pirello as she teaches them to make healthy afterschool snacks. All kids in attendance will receive tickets to the home opener against the Miami Heat on October 30 at 7:00 p.m., presented by Independence Blue Cross.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25: SIXERS STRONG T-Shirt Tour on Broad Street
11:00 a.m. to approximately 12:30 p.m., starting at the Wells Fargo Center, traveling north on Broad Street to City Hall, then back down Broad Street to the arena
Members of the Sixers Dream Team, presented by Parx Casino®, and Sixers Flight Squad will parade up and down Broad Street on a double-decker bus, throwing out SIXERS STRONG T-shirts to fans.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 28: Sixers Roll Out the Blue Carpet in Philadelphia

1:16 p.m.: At 76 minutes after noon (1:16 p.m.), Macy's grand court organist Peter Richard Conte will play “Here Come the Sixers” on the Wanamaker Organ at Macy’s Center City (1300 Market St., Philadelphia, PA 19107).
3:00 p.m.: Members of the team will host a Halloween party for children staying at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (3401 Civic Center Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19104) until 4:00 p.m.
3:00 p.m. Sixers Head Coach Brett Brown and members of the team will participate in a pep rally at the offices of Blue Week and home opener presenting sponsor Independence Blue Cross (1901 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103), also until 4:00 p.m.
4:00 p.m.: Members of the team will be at Philly Cuts Unisex Salon (4409 Chestnut Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19104), where 76 kids will receive free haircuts from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. All of the children receiving haircuts will be given tickets to the home opener against the Miami Heat on October 30 at 7:00 p.m., presented by Independence Blue Cross.
5:00 p.m.: The world’s first pizza museum, Pizza Brain (2313 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19125), will create and display a giant, blue, Sixers ball logo pizza in the shop and offer half-price slices of their buffalo chicken blue cheese pizza from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29: Lunchtime takeover at Liberty Place
Noon-1:00 p.m., Liberty Place (1650 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103)
Members of the Sixers Dream Team, presented by Parx Casino®, and Sixers Flight Squad will take over Liberty Place during lunch with giveaways and a pep rally.
