Philadelphia 76ers Summer League Report: Summer Sixers Back in Action vs Atlanta

Summer Sixers Back in Action vs. Hawks Thursday

Up Next:

The 76ers (1-1) will play their third Las Vegas Summer League matchup Thursday, facing the Atlanta Hawks (2-1).

The Sixers return to the court after a pair of practice days, for their first competitive run since Monday’s 111-103 loss to the Mavericks.

DJ Steward was the Sixers’ leading scorer Monday, scoring 24 points off the bench. Jaden Springer (ankle) was out.

Bobby Jackson stepped into head coaching duties Monday, after a pair of games coached by Rico Hines, and the previous pair under Nick Nurse.

“That’s the number one thing - we’ve got to get to know everybody. As coaches, we can’t bark orders and tell them what to do if we’re not willing to build those relationships with those guys. And then there’s trust… That’s really important for us.”

Atlanta will be facing the second day of a back-to-back, a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, 99-93, Wednesday.

Tyrese Martin led the way down the stretch for Atlanta Wednesday, tallying 25 points and nine boards, scoring 14 points in the fourth period alone.

Thursday’s matchup is a 3:30 p.m. ET tipoff.

More from Jackson on building relationships with his players and staff:

“Open the communication - the accountability that we expect and that we want - especially on my end. If I do something wrong, tell me about it. As an organization, that’s the message that we want to send, and the relationships we want to have with our guys.”
