Set franchise record with ninth straight game of at least 30 points to cap off week

Lone player over week to average 35 points and three blocks

Fourth weekly award is tied for most this season; tied with Allen Iverson for the most ever by a 76er in a single season

The NBA announced today that Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played between Monday, March 13 and Sunday, March 19. The honor is his fourth this season and the 11th Player of the Week nod of his career. Embiid joins Hall of Famer Allen Iverson (2004-05; 2001-02) as the only 76ers ever to earn the award four times in a single season.

Over the course of the week, Embiid helped the 76ers rise to the No. 2 seed in the East with averages of 35.0 points (69.1% FG, 86.7% FT), 12.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.3 blocks per outing. He was the lone player to average such numbers, leading the 76ers to a perfect 3-0 week, which extended the team’s streak to eight games, the longest active streak in the league, and tied for the Philadelphia’s longest this season.

Embiid was the only player to total 10 blocks during the week which led the Cameroon-native to six straight games of at least 30 points and two blocks, which is tied for the second-longest streak in NBA history with Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal. Only Hall of Famer Michael Jordan (seven games) has ever posted a longer streak.

During this past week, Embiid set a 76ers franchise record with nine straight games with at least 30 points, including seven straight games where he shot 55-percent-or-better from the floor. These seven consecutive games with 30-plus points on 55% shooting are tied for the longest such streak in league history.

Across his last 30 outings, Embiid is averaging 33.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, making him the fourth player to average such numbers over a 30-game span in NBA history, joining Russell Westbrook along with Hall of Famers Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Embiid leads the league in scoring this season, with a career-high 33.5 points per game on 54.6% from the floor, putting him on pace to become just the third player to post 33 points and 54% shooting for a season, joining Abdul-Jabbar (1971-72) and Chamberlain (1965-66).

Through 70 games, Embiid and the 76ers have compiled a record of 48-22, marking the team’s best 70-game start since 2000-01 (49-21). This is also the 11th time in franchise history where the 76ers have won at least 48 of its first 70 games

PHILADELPHIA – On Monday, March 20, when the 76ers host the Chicago Bulls, the team will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the 1982-83 76ers Championship team, presented by Crypto.com. Players, coaches, and executive management from the 1982-83 team will be honored during a special halftime ceremony at center court. Current 76ers will pay homage to the team by wearing special 1982-83-themed “Fo’ Fo’ Fo’” warm-up shirts. “Fo’ Fo’ Fo’” refers to when Moses Malone predicted a full sweep of 12 straight wins in three playoff series.

In addition to the ceremony, the 1982-83 team will be invited to the Philadelphia 76ers Training Complex Monday morning to watch 76ers shootaround and engage with current 76ers players and coaches. Media will have the opportunity to speak with select members of the team following shootaround.

Unique in-arena programming and exclusive video content will play throughout the night as part of the fan experience, highlighting the team and its historic accomplishments. The expected special guests for the celebration include Julius Erving, Bobby Jones, Maurice Cheeks, Marc Iavaroni, Clint Richardson, Reggie Johnson, Clemon Johnson, Franklin Edwards, Earl Cureton, Matt Guokas (Assistant Coach), Pat Williams (General Manager), John Nash (Assistant General Manager), John Kilbourne (Strength and Conditioning Coach), Family of Moses Malone, and Sonny Hill.

The 1982-83 team finished the regular season with a 65-17 record – the second-most wins in franchise history, produced four Hall of Fame players (Cheeks, Erving, Jones and Malone) and a Hall of Fame Coach (Cunningham), and clinched the franchise’s third NBA Championship, winning 12 of its 13 postseason contests.

PHILADELPHIA – MARCH 13, 2023 -&nbsp;The&nbsp;NBA announced today that 76ers center Joel Embiid&nbsp;has been named Eastern Conference&nbsp;Player&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Week&nbsp;for games played between Monday, March 6 and Sunday, March 12. This is the 10th time Embiid has captured the weekly award, and his third such honor this season (November, December).&nbsp;&nbsp;

Embiid and Iverson (20) are the only 76ers to win the award at least 10 times since the award’s inception in 1979-80.&nbsp;

Over the course of the week, Embiid averaged 38.5 points (62.0% FG, 50.0% 3PT, 87.9% FT), 6.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.8 blocks and 1.5 steals per outing.&nbsp;He was the lone player to average such numbers in the league, leading the 76ers to a perfect 4-0 week. Philadelphia five-game win streak is the longest in the NBA.

Embiid led all players in total points (154) and free throws (51), while ranking second in blocked shots (11) throughout the week.&nbsp;

Embiid scored at least 39 points in three consecutive games from March 6-10, becoming the first 76er to accomplish that feat since Hall of Famer Allen Iverson in 2004. This included a 39-point effort on Friday, March 10, which helped the 76ers overcome a 21-point deficit against Portland. In that game, a 120-119 victory,&nbsp;Embiid hit a go-ahead field goal with 1.5 seconds remaining, marking the first time he has connected on a go-ahead basket within the final 2.0 seconds of a game in his NBA career.&nbsp;

In 54 games this season, Embiid leads the league in scoring with a career-high 33.4 points on a career-best 53.9% shooting mark from the field, in addition to his 10.0 rebounds per game. The Cameroon native is on pace to become the first player since Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo (1973-75) – and the only player in franchise history – to average at least 30 points and 10 rebounds in back-to-back seasons.&nbsp;

McClung becomes the eighth player in franchise history to participate in the contest

PHILADELPHIA – FEB. 14, 2023 – Philadelphia 76ers two-way player Mac McClung will be one of four players participating in the 2023 AT&T Slam Dunk Contest, the NBA announced today.

McClung becomes the eighth player in franchise history – and the first since Andre Iguodala in 2006 – to participate in the mid-season competition.&nbsp;

Signed as a two-way player by the 76ers earlier today, McClung, 24, has appeared in 18 games for the Blue Coats and has averaged 19.1 points and 4.7 assists while shooting 57.9% from the field.

McClung is set to compete against KJ Martin (Houston), Trey Murphy III (New Orleans), and Jericho Sims (New York) in the four-person contest.

PHILADELPHIA – FEB. 14, 2023 - Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey announced today that the team has signed veteran center Dewayne Dedmon.

Dedmon, in his 10th NBA season, joins Philadelphia after averaging 5.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in 30 games with the Miami Heat. Dedmon, who stands nearly 7-feet tall, spent the past three-plus seasons with Miami, averaging 6.2 points and 5.1 rebounds, while shooting 56.6% from the field over 113 appearances.

This marks the USC product’s second stint with Philadelphia after seeing action in 11 games with the 76ers during the 2013-14 campaign. All told, Dedmon has played in 507 NBA games (209 starts) with career numbers of 6.4 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting of 52.6% from the field. From 2017-19 with Atlanta, Dedmon averaged 10.2 points while starting in 106 of 136 games played.

Prior to turning pro, Dedmon spent two seasons at USC where he averaged 7.1 points and 1.7 blocks per game. In 2012-13, Dedmon’s 2.1 blocks per game ranked third in the Pac-12, while his 66 total blocks that season are the ninth-most by a Trojan in program history.

PHILADELPHIA – FEB. 2, 2023 – The NBA announced today that 76ers center Joel Embiid has been selected to the 2023 NBA All-Star Game in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the sixth career All-Star nod for Embiid, all of which have come over the past six seasons.

In his seventh NBA season, Embiid – who currently leads the NBA in scoring at 33.5 points per game – has produced career highs in points, assists (4.2), steals (1.1), and field-goal percentage (.534 FG) in 38 games of action. He has also added an average of 10.1 rebounds, making him one of two NBA players producing at least 30.0 points and 10.0 rebounds this season.

Named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for both December and January, Embiid has reached the 30-point mark in 13 of his past 16 games, averaging 34.8 points (.547 FG) and 10.3 rebounds during that stretch. He is tied for third in the NBA with nine games of 40-plus points, including a career-high 59 points on 19-of-28 shooting against the Jazz on Nov. 13. In the outing, he hauled in 11 rebounds and matched his career high with seven blocked shots, becoming the first player in NBA history to post at least 50 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks in a single game.

The Cameroon native’s 11 games of at least 35 points and 10 rebounds are tied for the most in the Eastern Conference this season. He leads the 76ers with 35 games of 20-plus points, 27 games of 30-plus points (fourth in NBA), and nine games with at least 40 points. He is one of five players with multiple 50-point outings throughout the league.

Embiid’s sixth All-Star honor is tied for fifth-most by a 76er in franchise history (Barkley, Costello). He is one of three players throughout the league to be named an All Star in each of the past six seasons dating back to 2018.

PHILADELPHIA – FEB. 2, 2023 - The NBA announced today that Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for January. This represents the second monthly honor in as many months for Embiid, who now has six such awards throughout his career.

In 10 games played throughout the month, Embiid produced a league-best 34.9 points on 54.9% shooting, 10.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.6 blocked shots. He is the first 76ers player to produce such numbers in a calendar month since Hall of Famer Moses Malone did so in Feb. 1982.

Embiid reached the 30-point mark in nine of his 10 games played throughout the month, including a streak of seven consecutive from Jan. 2-19. He scored 40-plus points three times in January, including a 47-point (18-31 FG), season-high 18-rebound game in a win over Denver on Jan. 28.

Embiid’s six games of 30-plus points and 10-plus rebounds were tied for the most in the NBA throughout the month. He finished the month as one of three players with multiple 40-point, 10-rebound performances.

It is the second consecutive month in which Embiid has captured the Eastern Conference’s monthly honor. The Cameroon native averaged 35.4 points and 9.9 rebounds in 13 games played last month for his fifth career monthly selection.

Philadelphia finished the month with an 11-3 record in January, good for the best record in the NBA.
