RPD of the Week: Megan

Hometown: Katy, Texas

Age: 24

Occupation: Veterinary Technician

Alma Mater: Texas A&M University, Bachelor's in Biomedical Science

Why I wanted to be a RPD: I grew up in Houston and always attended the Rockets games with my Dad and brother so I've been a Rockets fan for a long time. As a young dancer, I always enjoyed watching the Power Dancers and always wanted to be one, but I never imagined my dream could become a reality! After graduating college, I wanted to continue dancing and what could be better than cheering for my hometown Houston Rockets?!

Favorite Dance Routine: Definitely Shania Twain's country song we danced to a couple games back. We wore our bright red chaps, our signature boots, and our Rockets cowgirl hats! It's always fun to show off our Texas roots!

Hobbies: With our schedule, we don't have much free time. But any chance I get, I love to go to Barnes N Nobles, grab a coffee and read for a couple of hours! I also like to catch up on all the Grey's Anatomy episodes I've missed!

Favorite movie: The Notebook! I know, I know. It's a cheesy love story, but it's so good!

Songs on my iPod: "I Like to Move It," which is the theme song from Madagascar, "Mission" by Rush, anything Big N Rich and all of John Mayer's albums!

Favorite restaurant: My fave would have to be RA Sushi! Yummy sashimi and California rolls! Plus it's healthy too! (Gotta stay in shape!) Although recently, I went to Yao's Restaurant and I have to say it's pretty good! It might be competing for my new fave!

I'm happiest when: I have accomplished something! I believe hard work always pays off, and I like the feeling of accomplishment after I've put all my strength and effort into a project. "No Pain, No Gain," right? Or at least that's the saying I remember from my brother's workout shirts!

New Year's Resolution: My New Year's Resolution is to get organized! I feel so much better when I have a schedule, and can mark off things that I did that day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the year that skill will come a little bit easier for me!

Pregame Ritual: First, I stop by Starbucks for an iced non-fat latte. I don't know what I would do without it! Right before the player intros, we all get together and pray that God keeps everyone safe and for a good game. Then, we all put our hands in, and yell "RPD! Gonna break it on down!" The lights go out, and we are all jumping up and down waiting until the countdown. Once it hits 10,9,8 .... we run out and the game has begun! What an adrenaline rush!

My favorite part of the game: My favorite part of the game is fourth quarter. We have about six different dances to various songs for fourth quarter time outs. If it's a close game and a timeout is called, we wait for our coach to tell us which dance we're performing and have to run out on the court and perform! Talk about a rush! We have about one second to review which dance, and get out there and smile BIG!

My favorite Rockets memory: My favorite Rockets memory was when we traveled overseas and performed for our U.S. troops! We went to Bosnia, Kosovo, England, and Austria, places I had never seen before! We got to meet our soldiers, see their everyday routines and even get in some of the aircrafts! It was definitely an experience I will remember for the rest of my life.

My goal in life: My goal is to be happy and to have lived my life to the fullest. I want to have a big family that comes home for the holidays so that my house is loud and full of kids. It will probably be a little chaotic, but most of all, full of love! :)
