RAPTORS ANNOUNCE 2023-24 SCHEDULE

 The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday their 2023-24 regular season schedule. The club will tip-off its 29th season in the National Basketball Association (NBA) at Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 25 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Raptors will start the regular season at home for the 12th straight season and 23rd time in team history. Toronto’s road debut is set for Friday, Oct. 27 at Chicago.

An 80-game schedule was released due to the inaugural In-Season Tournament. The two remaining games will be played the week of Dec. 4 and will be released following the conclusion of the In-Season Tournament Group Play. The Raptors open Group Play on Friday, Nov. 17 against Boston at Scotiabank Arena.

Noteworthy home games on the 2023-24 schedule include the tenth annual Giants of Africa Game, celebrating the life of Nelson Mandela, scheduled for Dec. 1 vs. New York. Joel Embiid, the 2022-23 NBA Most Valuable Player, and the Philadelphia 76ers will make an early season visit to Toronto on Oct. 28 and again March 31. The NBA champion Denver Nuggets will travel north of the border Dec. 20, while Victor Wembanyama, the first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, and the San Antonio Spurs visit Feb. 12. LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers make their lone trip to Toronto on Apr. 2.

Toronto will play its 20th season in the Atlantic Division, joining Boston, Brooklyn, New York and Philadelphia. The Raptors were a member of the Central Division from 1995-2004.

The schedule features four games against divisional foes with two home and two away. Four other Eastern Conference teams will also be played twice at home and on the road (Atlanta, Chicago, Indiana and Washington). Three will be played once at home and twice on the road (Detroit, Miami and Orlando) and three will be faced twice at home and once on the road (Charlotte, Cleveland and Milwaukee). Each Western Conference team will be played once at home and on the road. 

The longest home stand of the season is five games from Feb. 9-22 (14 days) which stretches over the All-Star break. The longest road swings are six games each which happens Jan. 3 – Jan. 12 (10 days) and Jan. 28 – Feb. 7 (11 days).  

The busiest day of the week for the Raptors this season will be Wednesday with 20 games. Wednesday is the busiest day at home with 11 contests, while Wednesday and Friday both feature a high of nine road games.

The Raptors’ busiest months are November, January and March with 15 games apiece. The busiest home month is March with nine games, while the busiest road month is January with the Raptors playing nine games away from Toronto. 

The Raptors will have 14 back-to-back games this season (two more than last season). Of those sets, three involve no travel.

Toronto’s schedule features one U.S. national television appearance on TNT when the Raptors host Chicago on Jan. 18. The local television schedule will be released at a later date.
