Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) announced Thursday that ESPN anchor and reporter David Amber will join the organization as a member of its Raptors NBA TV broadcast and digital team.
Amber, a Toronto native, will host the Toronto Raptors pregame and postgame show and share his unique insider perspective as a contributor at www.raptors.com.
"We're extremely excited to welcome David back to Toronto and to have him as a member of our broadcast team," said Chris Hebb, senior vice-president of broadcast and content for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. "David has great credentials and will bring a wealth of basketball experience to our channel and our viewers. We believe his passion for the sport and knowledge of the game will be a great asset for our broadcast team and will resonate with our audiences."
Amber began his broadcast career in 1997 as a reporter and ultimately served as an anchor at TSN. While at TSN, he reported from two Olympic Games, as well as several World Series, Stanley Cup Finals and NBA Finals. From 1999-2001 he was a courtside reporter for TSN's broadcasts of Toronto Raptors games.
"It's great to be back working in my home city and to be working on the Raptors broadcasts again," said Amber. "I have followed the Raptors since day one and look forward to being a part of the continued growth of Raptors NBA TV for years to come."
In 2002, David joined the ESPN networks as an anchor and contributor to SportsCenter, Outside the Lines, Baseball Tonight and College GameDay. While at ESPN, Amber provided coverage from the NBA Finals, MLB Playoffs and other major events, as well as serving as a sideline reporter for NCAA football and the World Baseball Classic.
Amber received a Bachelor of Arts degree in North American Studies from McGill University in Montreal and a Masters of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University.
