Mavericks guard Steve Nash, one of our NBA.commentators for NBA Playoffs 2001, answered questions from fans on the off day following the Mavericks' 112-108 Game 4 win over the Spurs. The Mavericks are down in the series 1-3 to the Spurs in the Western Conference Semifinals.
We were glad to see your performance yesterday, and admire your courage.
Could you tell us what difference do you feel between the playoffs and the normal games? Thanks for your answer.
Playoff games are tougher because there is more on the line. The teams
seem to player harder on defense and there is more contact on fouls during
the course of the game.
What do you think of Juwan's flagrant foul on Derek Anderson? I personally don't think he meant to hurt Derek. Do you think there is a rivalry developing?
San Jose, Calif.
I think there has always been a rivalry between us and the Spurs as well as the Rockets. Now that we are a better team, that rivalry should get stronger. I do not think Juwan was trying to hurt Derek. He is not that kind of player.
Congrats on an awesome year Steve. What was more thrilling for you,
beating Yugoslavia in Sydney or beating Utah in Game 5?
Playing for your country is always a different experience than playing for a team. Both wins had special meaning to me in different ways.
What do you think of your matchup against Avery Johnson and Terry Porter?
Quezon City, Philippines
They are both good players. As the series has gone on it shows how tough they are.
First of all I think you are a great player! And from Canada as well!!
My question is, which player in the league do you find yourself thinking to yourself, "Wow! He is really good!", a player who amazes you?
Fredericton, New Brunswick
Every game something happens that amazes all of us. Everyone in this league is such a great athlete.
