Giannis Sina Ougku Antetokounmpo was born in Athens in 1994. The third oldest of five to Nigerian immigrants Charles and Veronica Antetokounmpo, Giannis comes from the quintessential basketball family. His brothers Thanasis and Kostas play for the NBA's Bucks and Lakers, respectively. Giannis's youngest brother Alexander currently plies his trade at Domenican High School in Milwaukee. Before being drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2012, he appeared in 26 games for Filathlitikos AO of the Greek second division and averaged 9.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 62.1 percent from two-point field goal range en route to a Greek League All-Star Game nod. Giannis has represented Greece at the highest level of international competition, participating in the FIBA World Cup in 2014 and 2019. In the latter tournament, Antetokounmpo averaged 14.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in five games, leading his country to the tournament's second round. Giannis has been active in the charitable matters, donating food at the Milwaukee Community Center and hosting charity tournaments with his brothers in Greece.
