Player Bio

Michael Carter-Williams was born in 1991 in Hamilton, Massachusetts. He is the son of Earl Williams and Mandy Zegarowski and step-son of Zach Zegarowski and Rosa Williams. He has a younger sister and three younger brothers. Carter-Williams initially attended high school at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School in Hamilton before transferring to St. Andrews in Barrington, Rhode Island. Carter-Williams was an honor roll student during his final two-plus years at St. Andrews. After his senior season, he earned both McDonald's and Jordan Brand All-American honors. During the summer of 2019, Carter-Williams interned at UFC Headquarters in Las Vegas. You can follow MCW on Twitter (@mcarterwilliams) and Instagram (@mr_carter5). Carter-Williams played two years at Syracuse, but he vaulted from a reserve contributor to an everyday starter in his 2012-13 sophomore campaign. That season, he was named to the All-Big East Second Team after averaging 11.9 points and 7.3 assists. His assist total (291) was enough to lead both the Big East and the NCAA. Furthermore, he led Syracuse in steals (2.7) and free throws made (3.2) per game. In the postseason, Carter-Williams was pegged for the 2013 NCAA Tournament All-Region squad and helped lead the Orange to the 2013 NCAA Tournament Final Four (losing to Michigan), garnering All-Region honors along the way. Carter-Williams entered the 2013 NBA Draft after his sophomore year and was drafted in the first round (11th overall) by the Philadelphia 76ers.
