Austin Rivers was the 10th overall pick by New Orleans in the 2012 NBA Draft. He signed as a free agent with Houston on 12/24/18 and has since appeared in 115 games with 17 starts. The Rockets are 33-13 when he scores in double-figures. From 2014-15 through 2017-18, Rivers played for his father, Doc, with the Los Angeles Clippers. In his final season with L.A., Rivers averaged career-highs of 15.1 points and 4.0 assists. Entering 2020-21, he averaged 9.2 points, 2.3 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in 552 career games with 149 starts.
Rivers was an early entry candidate for the 2012 NBA Draft following his freshman season at Duke. He averaged a team-high 15.5 points, becoming the third freshman to accomplish that feat in school history. Rivers was the seventh freshman in ACC history to earn First Team All-Conference honors and was ACC Rookie of the Year. In high school, he led Winter Park in Orlando to back-to-back Class 6A Championships and was a McDonald’s All-American.
