E'Twaun Donte Moore was born in 1989 in East Chicago, Indiana. He is the son of Ezell and Edna Moore and one of three children. Moore stayed in his hometown for high school and attended nearby Central, where he averaged 21.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest during his senior year. That season, Moore helped Central win the 2007 Indiana High School Athletic Association 4A State Championship. He was later named as a Third Team Parade All-American. Moore then decided to stay in his home state and attend Purdue University, where he majored in Organizational Leadership and Supervision. During his time with the Bulls, the guard read to children as part of the Baskets for Books program and spoke to children at the Boys & Girls Club at the Jackson Community Center about staying motivated. As a member of the Pelicans, Moore handed out hoodies to exceptional math students in Lafourche Parish as part of the Chevron Mathletes program.
