Marc Gasol Saez was born in 1985 in Barcelona, Spain. As a teenager, he moved with his parents to Germantown, Tennessee, while his older brother Pau played for the Grizzlies. The move led to Marc playing high school basketball at Lausanne Collegiate School. After his senior season, he was named Mr. Basketball for Division 2 in 2003 by averaging 26 points, 13 boards and six blocks per game. Gasol then returned to Spain to play for FC Barcelona in the Liga ACB. Since 2006, Gasol has been a regular member of the Spanish national team. With Gasol, the Spanish team has won two FIBA World Cup titles and two Olympic silver medals. In 2013, Marc and Pau launched the Gasol Foundation "to reduce childhood obesity rates through the promotion of healthy habits to children and their families."
