Devon Dotson was born on August 2, 1999 to Dana and Angela Dotson. He has one brother, Dalen, and one sister, Ashylnn. Dotson grew up idolizing Derrick Rose and says he patterned his game after the former Bulls star. For high school, Dotson attended Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he teamed with future Tennessee and Boston Celtics star Grant Williams. As a high school senior, Dotson averaged 28.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists and helped lead Providence to the conference title. Dotson left Providence Day as their all-time leading scorer, totaling 2,607 points. A three-time All-State selection, Dotson was selected to the All-Conference team in all four of his high school years. He was a consensus five-star recruit and was selected to play in the 2018 McDonald's All-American Game. For college, Dotson attended Kansas from 2018-2020, before declaring himself eligible for the 2020 NBA Draft. Dotson enjoys playing ping pong and video games.
