After going undrafted after four years at Butler, Martin played with the Utah Jazz Summer League team in 2018 and would later sign overseas to play with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg. Martin played with the Timberwolves in the 2019 Summer League and impressed, ultimately earning a two-way contract with the Timberwolves.
Martin spent four seasons at Butler. As a senior, he averaged 21.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from the 3-point line. He was a First-Team All-Big East selection in 2018 and a Second-Team selection in 2016 and 2017. Butler made the NCAA Tournament in all four years Martin was there, including a Sweet 16 appearance during the 2016-17 season. In the team's second-round win over Middle Tennessee, Martin finished with 19 points, shooting 6-for-9 from the field.
