Alize Johnson's collegiate career took him from his home state of Pennsylvania, to a small town in Texas, and finally to southwestern Missouri. Johnson spent the first two years of his career at Franklin Phillips College, a junior college in Borger, Texas. As a freshman, he posted 12.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game and received honorable mention all-conference honors. Johnson was even better as a sophomore, when he averaged 16.7 points and 12.0 rebounds per game and connected on 58.8 percent of his field goals. Johnson then transferred to Missouri State University, where he immediately made an impact for the Bears. Johnson averaged a double-double in his first year at MSU, good for 14.8 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. For his efforts, Johnson was named the 2017 MVC Newcomer of the Year and an All-MVC first-team pick. The next year, he again averaged a double-double. Johnson compiled 15.0 points and 11.6 rebounds per game en route to an All-MVC first-team selection and a second place finish on the MVC Player of the Year ballot.
