Kostas Ndubuisi Antetokounmpo was born in Athens, Greece, to Veronica and Charles Antetokounmpo, who are originally from Nigeria. He has one younger brother, Alexis, and three older brothers, Francis, Giannis and Thanasis. Alexis plays high-school basketball, Francis is a professional soccer player, and both Giannis and Thanasis play in the NBA. Kostas Antetokounmpo attended Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, where he was First Team Division 4 All-State as a senior. During that season, he averaged 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks while helping Dominican to a 27-1 record and its fifth straight state title. Antetokounmpo and his brothers recently launched the AntetokounBros Academy, which will "be the springboard for underprivileged youth so that their dreams come true." He redshirted his first season after he was ruled a partial qualifier as a result of playing two years of high school basketball in Greece. During the 2017-18 campaign, he played under coach Anthony Grant. In 29 games (six starts), Antetokounmpo averaged 5.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 15.1 minutes per game. He decided to enter the 2018 NBA Draft following the season. He would ultimately wind up being the last pick of the 2018 NBA draft, after being selected by the Philadelphia 76ers, only to then be immediately traded to the Dallas Mavericks.
