David Nwaba was not selected in the 2016 NBA Draft but signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. He then spent a season with Chicago and then with Cleveland before signing with Brooklyn for 2019-20. Nwaba suffered a right Achilles injury while playing for the Nets at San Antonio on 12/19/19 and was waived on 1/3/20. He signed as a free agent with Houston on 6/23/20, but did not join the team for the NBA Restart in Orlando as he was still rehabbing. In 21 games as a starter for the Bulls in 2017-18, Nwaba averaged 10.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 steals. He was named to the All-NBA Development League All-Defensive Team in 2016-17. Entering 2020-21, Nwaba averaged 6.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 161 career games with 37 starts.
Nwaba began his collegiate career as a redshirt at Hawaii Pacific before transferring to Santa Monica College for a season and then to Cal Poly. In three seasons with the Mustangs, he averaged 11.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals.
