Louis Tyrone Williams was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Willie Louis Williams and Janice Faulkner in 1986. Nicknamed "Sweet Lou," Williams was a high-school basketball star at South Gwinnett High School and had his No. 23 basketball jersey retired there in 2006. He continues to host annual basketball camps at his alma mater. In 2005, Williams and his mother founded the Lou Williams Foundation with the mission of "providing assistance to young athletes in pursuing their dreams of higher education."
