Ersan Ilyasova was born in Uzbekistan in 1987, the son of Iraliye and Enver. He'd move to Turkey in his teenage years, and grew up playing for the Ulker Spor Kulubu Istanbul Youth Team. In 2004-05, Ilyasova played for Ulker in the Turkish Basketball League, averaging 3.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per 12.3 minutes of play. He moved to FC Barcelona in 2007, where he played a combined 44 EuroLeague games over the ensuing two seasons, improving his points per game average from 6.1 points per game in 2007-08 to 10.5 points per game the next year. Internationally, Ilyasova has represented Turkey at the 2019 FIBA World Cup, making three appearances and averaging 16 points and 9.3 rebounds.
