Postgame Quotes - December 17, 2014

PISTONS HEAD COACH STAN VAN GUNDY

(On defensive play the past two games): “They are two really good offensive teams. Our defense isn’t ready to play at that level. We didn’t limit either team so it’s disappointing. We’ve all got a lot of work to do because as we’ve stepped up a level in teams we haven’t been able to contain them at all.”

(On the loss): “They got everything they wanted tonight. They got layups, three’s and free throws. We weren’t able to take anything away from them tonight. They’re a very good team. They played very well and do so on most nights. It was an offensive game, even in the first half. We couldn’t keep up with them in the third quarter. They were scoring easily, we were struggling and the game got away.”

DETROIT PISTONS CENTER ANDRE DRUMMOND:  (On activity on the defensive end that translate to activity on the offensive end): "I just really raised my game up and play hard, period, on the offensive end and the defensive end.  Tonight was a good night for me but we didn't win the game."

(On key to his success tonight vs. Dallas): "I really just outworked them on both ends of the floor, truly played my game.  They really did a good job of taking away some of the easy plays for me.  I tried to do my best to help my team get in a good position to win the game and it didn't happen for us."

DALLAS MAVERICKS HEAD COACH RICK CARLISLE: (On Parsons and Ellis): "Parsons hit a lot of big shots. I thought we were struggling a little bit in the third.  Monta Ellis took over the game with some one-on-one stuff so that got us going. Both of those guys were huge for us. Parsons and Ellis carried us particularly in the second half."

(On Andre Drummond): "He jumps and it seems like he hangs in the air until he gets his hand on the ball. That's how it looks. I've never seen a guy get his hands on so many lobs, shots - everything. I was amazed."

(On playing against Pistons): "We needed every point. We needed every rebound. This is a hard game. It's a grinding game. It's a back-to-back; it's a team that's improving. They're physical and they're well coached. We got a little bit of a cushion at the end and it was closer than the score indicated."

DALLAS MAVERICKS FORWARD CHANDLER PARSONS: (On performance tonight versus Pistons): "I'm Playing with confidence. I knew it was going to happen. It was just going to be a matter of time. The more I play with these guys the more comfortable I'm going to get. Like I said, I'm just finding my rhythm right now. We're rolling right now; I feel great, playing confident. Everything seems to be going slower for me right now; getting used to playing with these guys and making better reads. Guys are starting to understand where I like the ball."

DALLAS MAVERICKS CENTER TYSON CHANDLER: (On Andre Drummond): “I think he's a great, young raw talent. His effort, his persistence on the glass - he's very athletic. He has a lot of potential to do some special things in this league."

(On thoughts about Mavericks game versus Pistons): "I feel good out there. This was a back-to-back. The biggest thing is making sure we secured the win out there. I like the way we're playing right now. I like the way we're playing defensively and offensively. The ball is moving. I personally feel good. We wanted to make sure we came out here and got these wins. We can't afford to lose these games in the East because the West is going to come over and dominate the East and you lose a game here, it's almost like you're losing two because you're going to have to battle within your division and conference - it makes it that much tougher."
