Tuesday’s Western Conference play-in tournament game will feature a familiar opponent for New Orleans, in more ways than one. After dropping Sunday’s regular season finale to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Pelicans will match up against the same squad Tuesday on TNT (6:30 p.m. Central), featuring LeBron James and former seven-year New Orleans power forward Anthony Davis.
The Pelicans (49-33) are the No. 7 seed in the West play-in bracket, hosting the eighth-seeded Lakers (47-35). The winner of Tuesday’s 7-8 game will advance to the playoffs for a Round 1 matchup against defending NBA champion Denver (No. 2 seed). The loser of Tuesday’s Lakers-Pelicans contest will have a final chance to advance to the playoffs Friday, hosting the winner of the 9-10 game between Sacramento and Golden State. Kings-Warriors is also slated for Tuesday (9 p.m.).
Tuesday's game will be broadcast on TV exclusively by TNT nationally. The New Orleans local radio broadcast will be on WRNO 99.5 FM.
