In the weeks between the May 30 draft lottery and June 28 draft, New Orleans No. 1 overall pick Anthony Davis granted various interviews to numerous media outlets. Here is a sampling of some of what the 6-foot-10 forward/center had to say as his NBA career approached, including several from his recent two-day visit to the Crescent City:

  • The first thing I said (after the lottery), if I get drafted here, it would be great to win another championship in New Orleans. It’s a great city. If I get drafted here, it would be awesome.
  • He’s great. He’s a great coach. Played great in the league. He’s a real down-to-earth guy who’s going to tell you how it is. He’s been telling me how it is in the league for a rookie. Great advice.

  • I think I can make it. I got to show them I’m in shape and ready to work. Even if I don’t make the team, it will be fun. But being with those guys would give me a leg up on the rest of the guys coming into the league.
  • It’s going to take a couple of years to develop and play the way I want to play,
