Bob Licht: In The Lane - CAMP MONTY...and MORE!

I admit it. I had the ugliest shot on the playgrounds of Greensboro, North Carolina. Think, Bob McAdoo-behind-the-head push shot, but from the shortest guy on the court. I worked hard, but didn’t have the skills or instruction to improve very much.

One thing I never had was someone shooting video to prove to me how impossible it was for THAT shot to go in.

You don’t have to suffer the low shooting percentages and the snide comments yours truly experienced because CAMP MONTY is armed with something I never had access to:VIDEO ANALYSIS OF YOUR SHOOTING FORM.

That’s right, the 21st century has arrived along with Monty Williams’ first-ever summer basketball camp. Every camper will have his/her shooting form analyzed during the head coach’s instruction.

This will be the most well rounded basketball camp you have ever attended. You’ll learn more about shooting, rebounding, passing, free throw shooting, and ball handling than you ever imagined. The weeklong camp includes 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 drills as well as individual skills stations to enhance your experience

Monty Williams’ Summer Camp will be held at the Alario Center (where the Hornets practice) 2000 Segnette Blvd in Westwego from June 13-17th for Boys and Girls ages 7-16. In addition to the great instruction, each camper receives a t-shirt, jersey bag, basketball, headband, and team photo with Monty Williams.

In the event you can’t attend coach Williams’ camp the New Orleans Hornets have a host of other basketball day camps throughout the region from which to choose this summer:

June 13-17 Monty Williams camp - Alario Center (Westwego) M-Th 9:00-2:30;
F 9-12
June 13-17 Pelican Park Brown Gym (Mandeville) M-Th 9:00-2:30;
F 9-12
June 22-24 Baton Rouge Community College (Baton Rouge) Wed - Fri 9:00-2:00
July 11-15 Muss Bertolino Gym (Kenner) M-Th 9:00-2:30;
F 9-12
July 18-22 Holy Cross School (New Orleans) M-Th 9:00-2:30;
F 9-12
July 25-29 Pelican Park Brown Gym (Mandeville) M-Th 9:00-2:30;
F 9-12
Aug. 8-12 Fritchie Park Gym (Slidell) M-Th 9:00-2:30;
F 9-12

As you can see in the above list head coach Monty Williams’ camp is just for the week of June 13th-17th; but, the other New Orleans Hornets Day Camps are fun and also full of instruction, guest celebrity appearances and more with locations from Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and the Northshore

So, if you want to become more proficient, more efficient, and a better, well rounded basketball player pick the camp closest to you and take your game to the next level. Don’t follow my lead. Don’t end up with an awkward shot, an inconsistent free throw style, and a fundamentally flawed game. I didn’t have this opportunity as a kid…and now my game is all talk.
