What does eighth-year Hornets guard Morris Peterson like to do when he’s not playing basketball? sat down with the Michigan State product and Flint, Mich., native to find out more about his interests away from the game of hoops.

Favorite type of music and groups: R&B and hip-hop. “I like Outkast, Alicia Keyes, Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder.”

Favorite TV show: Fresh Prince of Bel Air

Reality TV thoughts: “I don’t care for it. It’s ‘trainwreck’ television.’ ”

Favorite movie of all time: “I’m a movie buff, there’s no way I could pick just one.”

Time spent online per day: “Eighteen hours… just kidding. Probably about half an hour.”

Favorite non-basketball website:

Football or baseball? Football. “I like the Detroit Lions. My favorite baseball team is the Detroit Tigers.”

What he’d be doing if he weren’t an NBA player: “I’d be in real estate development.”

Favorite athlete as a kid: Magic Johnson.

Best friend on another NBA team: Milwaukee Bucks guard Charlie Bell.

Best friend in another pro sport: New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress.

First job: “My first job was working for the city and doing maintenance on baseball fields. I would have to wake up at four or five in the morning and drive around the city repairing the baseball fields that were on the list my boss gave me. It was hard work. We’d load up the truck with dirt before we left and would have to dig up the fields and then patch them up. We had to have all the work done before the sun came up.”
