2) Wednesday’s loss means the Pelicans summer team’s stay in Las Vegas will conclude with Friday’s consolation round. New Orleans (2-2) will face Washington at 3 p.m. Central at Cox Pavilion, in a matchup that will be broadcast live by NBA TV.

3) Four members of the 2012-13 New Orleans squad sat on the team bench Wednesday to support the summer Pelicans, including Anthony Davis, Eric Gordon, Al-Farouq Aminu and Ryan Anderson. That’s four of the team’s five top returning scorers from last season. Jason Smith, No. 4 in that group, was recently married on July 12. Davis and Anderson are participating in the USA Basketball minicamp in Las Vegas next week July 22-25, along with Jrue Holiday and head coach Monty Williams.

4) No one on the current Pelicans roster knows Jrue Holiday as well as Jason Smith, his teammate on the 2009-10 Philadelphia 76ers. Read Smith’s interesting insight into what has motivated Holiday to become one of the NBA’s rising stars.

5) During his high school days, Eric Gordon became familiar with fellow scholastic basketball phenoms Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans through the national AAU circuit. Gordon is excited to be reunited with the two talented scorers and playmakers, this time as members of the same NBA team.
