LOS ANGELES – For the second straight game, New Orleans (11-24) will make a change to its starting lineup. However, Sunday’s alteration is just about the last thing the Pelicans wanted to see.

Alvin Gentry said during his pregame media session Sunday morning that two-time All-Star power forward Anthony Davis is not expected to play against the Clippers today (2:30 p.m. Central, Fox Sports New Orleans, WRNO 99.5 FM). Ryan Anderson will start at power forward in Davis’ place, joining Dante Cunningham, who was inserted into the mix Friday vs. Indiana.

"I think he's still sore," Gentry said. "We've got to line up and compete (without Davis) and someone else is going to have to step up."

Gentry called the back injury to Davis "just a bruise. He feels good, but in certain positions or movements that he makes, he gets sharp pain. It's not worth the risk of putting him out there if he's not fully ready to go."
