Game Preview: Pacers vs Raptors

After seeing their seven-game win streak come to an end on Saturday night, the Pacers (30-35) will look to get back to their winning ways when they host the Toronto Raptors (39-27) on Monday in the final game of a four-game homestand. The Raptors will be looking to sweep the season series with Indiana, having already won in Toronto on Dec. 12 and at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Jan. 27.

Despite their loss on Saturday, the Pacers' confidence is still riding high heading into a week that features games against three of the top four teams in the Eastern Conference. After hosting Toronto, the Blue & Gold will visit Chicago on Wednesday and Cleveland on Friday.

During the past month or so, the Pacers have been playing great team basketball on both ends of the floor. Recently, however, they've experienced issues with turnovers. After not committing even 15 turnovers in 18 straight games, Indiana has coughed up the ball 37 times over their last two contests. Pacers head coach Frank Vogel gave much of the credit for that alarming statistic to the lengthy and talented defenses of the Bucks and Celtics, but the Pacers also know they have to take better control of the ball this week.

The Raptors remain tied for third place in the Eastern Conference, but they've stumbled as of late. Toronto has dropped 10 of its last 12 games dating back to Feb. 21, including a 113-97 loss to Portland on Sunday evening.

The Raptors are led by the talented backcourt of DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry. Both players have made an All-Star team in the past two seasons. This year, they're combining to average over 37 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists per game.

Projected Starters

Pacers: PG - George Hill, SG - C.J. Miles, SF - Solomon Hill, PF - David West, C - Roy Hibbert
Raptors: PG - Kyle Lowry, SG - DeMar DeRozan, SF - Terrence Ross, PF - Amir Johnson, C - Jonas Valanciunas

Injury Report

January 27, 2015: The Raptors shot 47 percent from the field en route to a 104-91 win at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. DeMar DeRozan led the visitors with 24 points on 7-of-15 shooting, while Kyle Lowry added 19 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists.

Rodney Stuckey led five Pacers players in double figures with 22 points and also collected seven rebounds. Solomon Hill added 15 points, while George Hill contributed 13 off the bench.

  • Toronto has only swept the season series over the Pacers once in the history of the series, winning all four matchups during the 2000-01 season.
  • Indiana leads the all-time series with the Raptors 44-29, including a 26-10 advantage at home.
  • DeMar DeRozan is averaging 25.0 points per game in March, the seventh-best scoring average in the NBA. DeRozan is shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 90.5 percent from the free throw line this month.
