In the process, Reggie Miller became the first Pacer All-Star since Don Buse and Billy Knight in 1977. He was runner-up to Miami Heat’s Rony Seikaly for the NBA Most Improved Player Award. Miller led Indiana to their first playoff birth of his career but was swept by the defending-champion Detroit Pistons despite Miller’s 20.7 ppg on .571 shooting from the field.
