To promote awareness, engagement and participation in anticipation of the 2021 NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis throughout our community, we are asking for fans to help us create 5,000 Nothing But Knit beanies to be worn by volunteers and frontline hospitality employees during the 2021 NBA All-Star Weekend and given as gifts to All-Star players, coaches and other NBA VIPs.

Q. What is "Nothing But Knit"?

A community-based program to create 5,000 beanies to be worn by volunteers and frontline hospitality employees during the 2021 NBA All-Star Weekend and given as gifts to All-Star players, coaches and other NBA VIPs.

Q. What color of yarn should I use?

Navy Blue (PMS 282) and Gold (PMS 123)

Q. Is there any yarn you recommend?

Knitters may use any brand you prefer. Examples include:
  • Shepherd's Wool: Royal Blue (actually looks like navy blue) and Buttercup
  • Red Heart: Soft Navy and Bright Yellow
  • Lion or Vanna's Choice: Colonial Blue and Mustard

Q. What type of pattern should I use?

You can use any kind of hat (beanie) pattern. Here are links to downloadable instructions for complimentary patterns:

Q. Is there any décor element we cannot use?

Any team logos, athletic brand logos or player specific designs

Q. Is crocheting an acceptable method of creating a beanie?

Yes, those who prefer to crochet are encouraged to create a beanie.

Q. What circumference should I make my beanie?

It is recommended to make the circumference 22" – 24".

Q. Where can I pick up a kit?

Please Note: Due to high demand we are currently out of all of our free yarn kits. We hope to be able to provide more of these as this program continues. If you are looking for recommendations on yarn colors and brands to purchase please see above for this information.

Pacers Sports & Entertainment will have free yarn kits available to be picked up while supplies last. Kits will include instructions, a pattern, yarn for one beanie, and a comment card for knitters to write a note to the recipient. Kits can be picked up from the following locations:

The first 25 knitters who RSVP to the "Knit at a Fever Game" events will receive two complimentary tickets to that night's game. Confirmation email will be sent to those who qualify.
