Indiana Pacers Bikeshare Celebrates 50,000 Bike Rides

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. today announces that the Pacers Bikeshare Program is celebrating the 50,0000th ride on Pacers gold bikeshare bikes. The 50,000th ride occurred on July 28, 2014, just over three months since the bikeshare program launched in downtown Indianapolis along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick.

“It’s amazing that we’ve had 50,000 rides on Pacers bikeshare bikes in just over three months” said Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. executive director, Karen Haley. “The Cultural Trail makes it easy for people to experience downtown by bike and the Pacers Bikeshare program makes bicycling easily accessible for people downtown.”

An annual member, who wished to remain anonymous, took the 50,000th ride last Monday and will receive a $50 gift card from PEARings Cafe and Frozen Yogurt. PEARings is located on the Cultural Trail, adjacent to the Washington and Meridian Bikeshare station, the busiest station in the system.

Pacers Bikeshare is available by purchasing either an annual membership for $80 at pacersbikeshare.org or a 24 hour pass for $8 online or at any bikeshare station kiosk. Your pass or membership gives you access to a bike for unlimited thirty minute trips. Trips over thirty minutes incur additional user fees, as is standard with bikeshare programs around the country. Bikesharing is a healthy transportation option designed for short trips.
