IHSAA State Champions Honored at Final Hickory Night

On Sunday, April 10, 2016, as the Indiana Pacers take on the Brooklyn Nets in the final "Hickory Night" of the season, the organization will be honoring the eight recently crowned Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) state basketball champions.

The girls' State Finals took place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday, February 27, 2016.

In the Class A State Championship, the Jac-Cen-Del (27-1) girls, coached by Scott Smith, won their second state title in school history, defeating Argos (24-4), 57-39.

In the Class 2A State Championship, the Lafayette Central Catholic (25-5) girls, coached by Craig DeVault, defeated Covenant Christian (23-6), 56-43, earning their second straight title and first in Class 2A.

In the Class 3A State Championship, the Heritage Christian (26-4) girls, coached by Rick Risinger, won their record seventh state title, and first in Class 3A, by defeating North Harrison (28-3), 51-45.

In the Class 4A State Championship, the Penn (28-2) girls, coached by Kristi Kaniewski Ulrich, won their first state title with a 68-48 win over Columbus North (27-2).

The boys' State Finals were held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on March 26, 2016.

In the Class A State Championship, Liberty Christian (26-4), coached by Jason Chappell, won their first state championship in any sport with a 64-45 win over Bloomfield (26-4).

In the Class 2A State Championship, Lapel (26-4), coached by Jimmie Howell, collected their second state basketball title, emerging victorious over Howe (23-8), 59-37.

In the Class 3A State Championship, Marion (23-7), coached by James Blackmon, Sr., claimed a record-tying 8th state championship with a 73-68 win over Evansville Bosse (19-11).

In the Class 4A State Championship, New Albany (27-1), coached by Jim Shannon, secured their second state championship, and first since 1973, with a 62-59 win over McCutcheon (28-4).
