Great Turnout at Pacers' Annual Golf Outing
The annual Pacers Foundation Golf Outing presented by Katz, Sapper, & Miller took place on Thursday at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Club. A large turnout of season ticket holders, corporate sponsors, and celebrities were on hand for the event, which raised money to benefit the Pacers Foundation.
The program kicked off with an brunch program, where Pacers head coach Frank Vogel spoke to the crowd. Vogel assured those present that the Pacers would once again be competitive in 2014-15, despite the loss of All-Star forward Paul George to a leg injury.
"We're going to be the surprise team of the NBA this year," Vogel said.

Vogel then introduced the Pacers four major offseason additions: guard Rodney Stuckey, guard/forward C.J. Miles, forward Damjan Rudez, and rookie center Shayne Whittington. The four players took part in a brief Q-and-A session with FOX Sports Indiana play-by-play announcer Chris Denari, where each spoke enthusiastically about joining the Pacers organization.
"I'm just excited to be here, excited for a fresh start," said Stuckey, who comes to the Pacers after seven seasons with the Detroit Pistons, where he averaged 13.4 points and 3.9 assists per game.
Miles, a nine-year veteran who shot 39.3 percent from 3-point range last year with Cleveland, added: "It's exciting to be able to play with some guys, veteran guys that know how to win, know how to play the game."
The rest of the Pacers staff and roster made appearances throughout the day. Vogel drove around the course, mingling with each group, posing for pictures, and offering to take one shot per group. Broadcaster and coach emeritus Slick Leonard, recently inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, took up residence on the 13th tee, where he took on all comers in a closest-to-the-pin challenge.
The Pacers players will assemble once again on Monday, Sept. 29 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse for Media Day. Training camp opens the next day. Indiana opens the preseason by hosting Minnesota on Tuesday, Oct. 7. The regular season tips off on Wednesday, Oct. 29, when the Philadelphia 76ers visit the Fieldhouse.
