Swanigan had an outstanding freshman campaign being named to the Big Ten's All-Freshman Team as well as a midseason finalist for the Wayman Tisdale Award (nation's top freshman) and early-season candidate for the Karl Malone Award (nation's top power forward) ... Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week a school-record three times, sharing the league lead with Big Ten Freshman of the Year Ethan Happ of Wisconsin ... Averaged 10.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, setting Purdue freshman records for rebounds (282 / previous record was 206) and double-doubles (8) ... His 348 points were the eighth most by a Purdue freshman in school history ... Became the second Purdue freshman in school history with 300 points, 200 rebounds and 50 assists (Robbie Hummel) ...
