Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson did not play Friday night against the Brooklyn Nets due to a plantar fascia tear in his right heel.

Lawson, who leads Denver in scoring and assists, initially suffered the injury on March 19 at Oklahoma City. He sat out three games before playing 20 minutes Wednesday at San Antonio.

The tear occurred in Oklahoma City, and did not increase in severity when Lawson played against the Spurs.

After dropping their third straight game heading into the All-Star break, the Denver Nuggets trailed the Memphis Grizzlies by a game-and-a-half in the race for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

The No. 3 seed in the Western Conference wasn’t much of a consideration, because the Nuggets were five games behind the Los Angeles Clippers – winners of four straight.
