Pete D’Alessandro Named Senior Vice President of Business and Team Operations for the Denver Nuggets

Greg Sherman promoted to same position with Colorado Avalanche

DENVER, June 12, 2015 – The Denver Nuggets have named Pete D’Alessandro their Senior Vice President of Business and Team Operations, President and Governor Josh Kroenke announced today. In a related move, Kroenke has promoted Greg Sherman to Senior Vice President of Business and Team Operations for the Colorado Avalanche.

“As KSE has evolved as a company, my role and duties within the company have evolved as well,” stated Kroenke. “Pete’s addition to our Operations team is a natural product of that evolution and his experiences over his professional career have put him in a unique position to assist me in multiple areas ranging from league operations to team budgeting. I look forward to his assistance in creating additional synergy between our Business and Team Operations to help take our organization to another level on and off the playing floor. All Basketball Operations remain the same and all Player Personnel inquiries should continue to be directed to Tim Connelly.”

D’Alessandro returns to Denver after spending the past two seasons as the General Manager of the Sacramento Kings. Prior to his time with Sacramento, he spent three seasons in the Denver Nuggets front office. He spent two years (2010-12) as the Advisor to the Executive VP of Basketball Operations and one season (2012-13) as the Nuggets Vice President of Basketball Operations.

Before arriving in Denver, D’Alessando worked for the Golden State Warriors from 2004 to 2008 as Director of Basketball Operations and Assistant General Manager in his final two seasons with the team.

D’Alessandro attended St. John’s University where he served as video coordinator for the men’s basketball team under Hall of Fame coach Lou Carnesecca. He graduated from Nova Southeastern University School of Law in 1994 and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1995. He briefly spent time in the political arena from 1994 to 1996, but returned to the world of Sports in 1997 where he worked for a Washington D.C. based sports agency for seven years before being hired into the Golden State Warriors front office.

Greg Sherman enters his new role with the Avalanche after spending 20 seasons with the company, with each of the last 14 of those in the Avalanche front office. Sherman spent five years as the club’s General Manager (2009-14) before serving as the Vice President of Business Operations/Assistant General Manager this past season.
