Nuggets Sign Murray, Hernangomez and Beasley

Officially Denver Nuggets: Trio Inks Rookie Deals

by Jonathan Huang

Jamal Murray, Juancho Hernangomez, and Malik Beasley are officially Denver Nuggets. All three have now signed their rookie contracts.

Murray, the seventh overall pick in the NBA Draft, showed off his scoring chops often in the Las Vegas Summer League. He averaged 19.6 points per game while grabbing 5.0 rebounds, and dishing 2.4 assists. Murray scored 20+ points multiple times in Las Vegas and displayed confidence playing both the point guard and shooting guard slots.

“I [still] have a lot to prove,” Murray said. “But I’m versatile and I’m ready.”

Hernangomez will be coming over from Spain after the Nuggets decided to bring him over for the upcoming season. Hernangomez had a solid Summer League showing, displaying versatility, mobility, and the ability to crash the offensive boards. He averaged 10.2 points and 8.2 rebounds while starting every game in Las Vegas.

Hernangomez hasn’t been shy to make his feelings about the Nuggets known.

“It’s a dream and I know the team,” Hernangomez said. “I’m really happy.”

Beasley did not play in Summer League but passionately cheered his teammates on every game. He also found some time to give back to the community by participating in a Jr. NBA event with a group of kids on the UNLV campus.

“I’m thankful for this opportunity and whatever coach wants, I will do it for him,” Beasley said. “I just gotta put in a lot of hard work.”

Now that the rookies have officially signed their contracts and Summer League is in the rearview, the countdown to October is on.
