Stephen Curry and Golden State reportedly will welcome back Gary Payton II.

Gary Payton II was a key part of the Golden State Warriors’ championship team in 2022, contributing defense and other aspects to the team. The 30-year-old veteran is headed back to the Warriors from Portland in a 4-team trade..

Payton signed with Portland in the offseason as a free agent, but missed the first 35 games of 2022-23 after having offseason surgery. He is averaging 4.1 ppg, 2.6 rpg and 1.5 apg in 17 mpg. In trading for Payton and trading away Wiseman in an earlier reported deal, the Warriors save some money in both trades.
