Purple has always played a part in Utah’s identity. Now, the 2023-24 Utah Jazz City Edition uniform will embrace this legacy color even more as they take a step forward with the purple mountain uniform.
The stepped gradients make their return with a focus on cascading shades of purple, representing the mountain ranges of the Wasatch Front. Stepped gradients have been a staple for Utah’s City Edition jerseys; from 2017-22, it was black to red, orange and yellow to represent the red rocks of Southern Utah.
The design draws inspiration from the 1996-2002 purple mountain uniform, including the mountain range across the chest. However, instead of JAZZ on the chest, UTAH is written out.
