Tim Duncan is one of 10 Spurs players to have their jersey retired.
The Spurs have made 39 appearances in the NBA playoffs, winning five championships along the way. In total, the Spurs have retired 10 jersey numbers. Let’s highlight the career accomplishments of these players.
00 – Johnny Moore (1980-1988)
Moore played 520 career games in the NBA, 519 of which came as a member of the Spurs. During his tenure with the franchise, he averaged 9.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 2.0 steals per game. At one point, he had a stretch of five straight seasons in which he averaged at least 9.0 assists.
6 – Avery Johnson (1990-1992, 1993, 1994-2001)
Johnson played for six teams during his time in the NBA, but most of his career was spent with the Spurs — playing ten years with the franchise. He averaged 10.1 points and 6.9 assists over his tenure with the Spurs. He also won one championship with the team in 1999.
9 – Tony Parker (2001-2018)
Parker spent 17 seasons with the Spurs. He made six All-Star teams and won four championships with the franchise. He also finished inside the top 10 in MVP voting four times. Parker is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
12 – Bruce Bowen (2001-2008)
Bowen was a defensive stalwart for the Spurs. He finished inside the top five in Defensive Player of the Year voting five times with the franchise. He also ended his career by playing at least 80 games in each of his final seven seasons.
13 – James Silas (1976-1981)
Silas played in both the ABA and the NBA. He made two All-Star teams in the ABA, including in the 1975-76 season when he averaged 23.8 points per game. He also finished second in MVP voting that season.
20 – Manu Ginobili (2002-2018)
The Spurs selected Ginobili in the second round of the 1999 Draft. He went on to win four NBA titles while spending his entire career with the franchise. He made two All-Star teams and was named the Sixth Man of the Year during the 2007-08 season. Ginobili is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
21 – Tim Duncan (1997-2016)
Duncan spent all 19 seasons of his career with the Spurs. He was named the 1997-98 Rookie of the Year, won two MVP Awards and made 15 All-Star teams. Duncan won five championships and was named Finals MVP three times. For his career, Duncan averaged 19.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.2 blocks per game. Duncan is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
32 – Sean Elliott (1989-2001)
Elliott played 12 seasons in the NBA, 11 of which came with the Spurs. He made two All-Star teams during his career and won one NBA title. Over 669 games with the Spurs, Elliott averaged 14.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
44 – George Gervin (1973-1986)
Gervin played in both the NBA and the ABA. He made 12 All-Star teams during his career and led the league in scoring four times during his tenure with the Spurs. Gervin is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and averaged 26.3 points per game during his time with the Spurs.
50 – David Robinson (1989-2003)
Robinson spent his entire career with the Spurs, winning two championships in 1999 and 2003. He was named the Rookie of the Year for the 1989-90 season, the Defensive Player of the Year for the 1991-92 season, a 10-time All-Star and the MVP of the 1994-95 season. During his MVP season, he averaged 27.6 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists. Robinson led the league in rebounding during the 1990-91 season and he led the league in scoring in 1993-94. Robinson is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
