Report: Tim Duncan stepping down as Spurs' assistant coach

Tim Duncan served as an assistant in San Antonio for one season.

San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan is stepping down as a full-time assistant on Gregg Popovich’s staff, per Marc Stein of The New York Times.

The Hall of Famer is expected to return to his previous duties of attending practices at his leisure to help with player development.

Duncan served as an acting head coach in a March win over the Charlotte Hornets when he filled in for Popovich. He did not coach during the season restart in Orlando.
