NEW YORK, April 15 --
The New Orleans Hornets’ Jamaal Magloire
and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Kevin Garnett
were today named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played during the month of April.
Magloire averaged 21.7 points on .494 shooting (44-of-89 FGA), 12.1 rebounds, and 1.00 blocks over 36.4 minutes per game while leading the Hornets to a 4-3 record in April. He scored a team-high 26 points and grabbed
13 rebounds to lead the Hornets to a 92-87 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Garnett averaged 22.7 points on .520 shooting (51-of-98 FGA), 14.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.67 blocks and 2.00 steals over 37.3 minutes per game while leading the Timberwolves to a 6-0 record in April, closing the season on a nine-game winning streak to claim the Western Conference’s top seed in the Playoffs. Garnett finished the season ranked first in the league in rebounds per game, averaging 13.9; and second in points per game, averaging 24.2. Garnett has earned Player of the Month honors four times this season (including three consecutive months).

Jamaal Magloire, New Orleans HornetsApril 3 at Portland: Scored 22 points on .583 shooting (7-of-12 FGA) with 12 rebounds in a 94-81 road victory over the Trail Blazers.
April 9 vs. Boston: Scored a team-high 23 points, a game-high 17 rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal in a 89-80 victory over the visiting Celtics.
April 10 at Milwaukee: Recorded a team-high 26 points and game-high 13 rebounds in a 92-87 victory over the the Bucks.
April 14 at Washington: Scored 23 points on .583 shooting (7-of-12 FGA) and added 14 rebounds in a 94-78 road victory over the Wizards.
Kevin Garnett, Minnesota TimberwolvesApril 4 at Memphis: Recorded 14 points, a game-high 22 rebounds, five assists, four blocks and a steal in a 90-82 victory over the Grizzlies.
April 8 at Sacramento: Scored 24 points on .555 shooting (10-of-18 FGA), a game-high 17 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and three steals in a 94-86 road victory over the Kings.
April 9 at Golden State: Scored a game-high 29 points on .800 shooting (12-of-15 FGA) and pulled down a team-high 15 rebounds in a 92-74 victory over the Warriors.
April 12 vs. Utah: Recorded 21 points, a game-high 17 rebounds, four blocks and three assists in a 104-90 victory over the visiting Jazz.
